    Overview

As competition rises and margins tighten, financial services leaders are under growing pressure to manage risks and to improve resilience, efficiency and client engagement. Agentic AI is the use of GenAI powered agents that are goal-oriented, have the ability to perceive their environment and leverage enterprise context to make probabilistic decisions and improve over time. The technology promises to drive smarter decision-making by combining reasoning with strategic planning and responding to new information in real time. With wide-ranging applications across financial services, the global market for agentic AI in the sector is predicted to increase at an average rate of over 40% per year, reaching more than $80 billion in 2034. In banking, agentic AI can combat fraud by identifying anomalies and responding to suspicious activity. Insurance companies are able to automate risk assessment and claims processing, while asset managers can leverage intelligent agents to adjust portfolios, reacting to market changes and personalising investment strategies.

However, despite promises of enhanced decision-making and risk mitigation, the integration of agentic AI into financial services raises critical challenges. It is complex to measure the value agents bring in productivity gains and ROI, and concerns persist around trust, data privacy, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance. How is agentic AI reshaping financial services beyond the hype? What drives adoption and what pitfalls must be avoided? How can autonomous agents be applied to deliver measurable, lasting value for businesses and customers?

This briefing Agentic AI: Financial Services Disruptor? hosted by the Financial Times in partnership with UiPath, is for financial services industry leaders responsible for transformation and AI adoption. The discussions will explore ways to tackle the obstacles and optimise the value of agentic AI in protecting against financial vulnerabilities and reaching strategic goals.
